    Maternity Protection Resource Package - Training of trainers

    29 May - 1 June 2012

    The workshop which took place in Siavonga, near the beautiful shores of lake Kariba, involved more than 33 national officials and experts, who were equipped with knowledge, skills and tools to initiate awareness raising and capacity-building around the core theme of maternity protection at work.

    Tripartite Meeting of Experts on Working Time Arrangements

    17 - 21 October 2011

    This meeting was the first international policy discussion of working time issues in nearly 20 years. The purpose of the meeting was to review and advise on modern working-time arrangements, which includes identifying the main policy issues that would need to be addressed to develop future ILO guidance for advancing decent work in the area of working time.

    Conference on Confronting Crises: Policy Responses to Improving Job Quality

    7 - 8 December 2009

    Organized by the ILO Conditions of Work and Employment Programme, this conference will bring together national and regional researchers and tripartite representatives from across Africa. The objective of the Conference is to share and examine the efforts being made across the region to improve working conditions, and to identify effective policy and practical approaches for the future.

    1st International Industrial Relations Association (IIRA) World Congress on Labour market regulations: rationales, indicators and impacts

    The Study Group's first meeting was organized in two panels. In the first, the existing theoretical and conceptual frameworks for the measurement and comparison of labour regulations were evaluated and suggestions made for improvements in theory, measurement and evaluation. The second panel was devoted to "country reports" on empirical studies in various national settings. Presentations were made by Miguel Malo (University of Salamanca); Sean Cooney (University of Melbourne) and Richard Mitchell (Monash University); Judy Fudge (University of Victoria); Sara Charlesworth (RMIT University); and Sangheon Lee (International Labour Organization) and Deirdre McCann (University of Aberdeen).

    1st Conference on Regulating for Decent Work: Innovative labour regulation in a turbulent world (RDW), 8-10 July 2009

    8 - 10 July 2009

    The Conference will explore responses to current deregulatory agendas and examine techniques for strengthening regulatory measures in substance or scope and heightening their influence on the practices of working life. Researchers from all regions are encouraged to attend and from a range of disciplines including law, economics, industrial relations, development studies, sociology and geography.
