Technical meeting on digitalization in the retail sector as an engine for economic recovery and decent work

While digitalization has the potential to support employment creation, sustainable development and inclusive growth, it has also brought to light challenges to ensuring decent work in the retail sector. Representatives from governments, employers and workers in the retail sector are meeting at the International Labour Organization in Geneva on 25-29 September 2023 to discuss how to harness the full potential of digitalization; to ensure it is sustainable, resilient, inclusive, and that it effectively promotes decent work.

Tripartite representatives will learn about social dialogue and share information and best practices on the main opportunities and challenges for social dialogue in the railways sector within their countries.

The ILO Regional Office for Africa (ROAF) and the Sectoral Policies Department (SECTOR) are jointly organizing a regional meeting on “Women in Mining: women for a more inclusive mining future in Africa”, in Dakar, Senegal, from 17 to 19 July 2023. The meeting aims to generate consensus and support for concrete actions to promote gender equality and decent work for women, and address the challenges they face in large and small-scale mining in Africa.
