Global Dialogue Forum on New Developments and Challenges in the Hospitality and Tourism Sector and their impact on Employment, Human Resources Development and Industrial Relations

A tripartite Forum on new developments and challenges for the hospitality and tourism sector was held in Geneva from 23 to 24 November 2010.

The purpose of the Forum was to evaluate and discuss new developments and challenges for the tourism sector and their impact on jobs, human resources development and industrial relations. The Forum has adopted points of consensus for subsequent action by the ILO and its constituents.

The Forum was attended by over 150 government, employers’ and workers’ delegates from more than 50 countries meeting. Eight Worker and eight Employer representatives had been selected after consultation with their respective Governing Body groups; the Forum was open to representatives of all interested governments. The Governing Body’s Worker and Employer groups could also nominate extra delegates. In addition, representatives of intergovernmental organizations and international non-governmental organizations have been invited to attend the meeting.
