Privatization of energy in the Argentine Republic – Losses and gains as seen by a trade union

This working paper presents how the privatization in the energy sector in Argentina was implemented and how it affected workers, their families and the society as a whole. The paper describes in detail how the reform impacted employment levels, working conditions and the morale of affected workers. It also analyzes the results of privatization including unwanted consequences and the experiences of redeployment of retrenched workers. The aim of the paper is provide an example that can be useful for other countries, other power companies and workers when they are going through the process of privatization.
