Working with employers' organizations

The project has succeeded in getting the key national level employers’ organizations to issue common statement of commitment on HIV/AIDS. After several consultations based on the ILO Code Of Practice on HIV/AIDS and the World of Work, the Indian Employers’ Statement of Commitment on HIV/AIDS was developed and launched on 12 December 2005 The statement has been signed by the seven national level organizations: The All India Organizations of Employers (AIOE), Standing Committee of Public Enterprises (SCOPE), Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ASSOCHAM), Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Employers’ Federation of India (EFI), Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FICCI) and Laghu Udyog Bharti (LUB). The statement is supported by MOLE and NACO.

A Enhancing Business Response to HIV/AIDS in India: Operational guidelines with estimated cost analysis - Working Paper was also published an annexure to the statement that provides practical guidelines to the member companies of the employers organizations to help them undertake the HIV/AIDS workplace programmes.
