    The Central Asian region has been heavily affected by climate change and the ongoing global environmental crisis. Kyrgyzstan has been experiencing consistent growth in CO2 emissions, continuous increases in temperature extremes and heightened risks of environmental hazards.

    The COVID-19 pandemic has presented countries with unprecedented challenges. While understandable given the unprecedented scale of the economic impact, one of the questions that can be asked in this respect is whether businesses that terminated workers and/or reduced their working hours, did so in compliance with the requirements of the labour laws of their respective countries.

  1. Leadership and management training for ILO staff in Eastern Europe and Central Asia

    Director, specialists and programme officer of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia gathered to undertake leadership and management training in the context of multiple crises. The exercise served to enhance skills for effective teamwork and use of technologies that enable multi-stakeholder collaboration from various locations.

  2. Consultants trained to support Kyrgyzstan’s efforts to promote greening of enterprises

    Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan: 16-17 January 2024 Fifteen consultants who have been trained to support Kyrgyzstan’s efforts to promote greening of enterprises for a just transition toward low carbon economy met in Bishkek. They discussed interim results and lessons learnt from baseline visits and training conducted at the selected enterprises.
