Responsible authorities
One of the functional objectives of the Ministry is to promote occupational safety, health and welfare in order to prevent the occurrence and minimize the adverse effects of industrial accidents and illnesses.
The Labour Code requires the Minister to appoint a National Advisory Council for Occupational Safety, Health and Welfare. One objective of the Council is to give advice and assistance to the Minister and to the National Advisory Committee on Labour in respect of matters affecting the safety, health and welfare of men and women at work or of those who may be affected by work activities. The other objective is to review and advise the Minister and the Committee on the operation of any legislation or regulations relating to the health, safety and welfare of workers.
