Among the thematic activities of the workshop, the first findings from the study on Skills for Green Jobs in Senegal were presented and followed by discussions and recommendations on how to sustainably support the transition to a green economy and integrate a curricula adapted to green jobs’ needs in all sectors of the Senegalese economy.

Participants also put forward a recommendation on combining technical training and green entrepreneurship training in the context of the Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE) support to a National programme on green jobs promotion in Senegal, after the progresses and results from the past national training of trainers on the Green Business Booklet (from the SIYB serie) were explained and showcased.

Finally, one of the main results of the Green Economy Days was the announcement of the newly established a National Platform on the Green Economy, aiming at stimulating green growth and development. This multi-stakeholder platform will be a forum for dialogue, information sharing and coordinating action on issues such as green financing, climate change, green jobs, and the sustainable exploitation of the country’s oil and gas resources. In this context ensuring a just transition by supporting states with the tools for the social, economic and environmental assessment of climate change impacts was recommended to ensure sustainability.

The Green Economy Days event was held in Dakar for its second time, on 20 and 21 February 2018 and organized by the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development in collaboration with the Institute of Environmental Sciences (ISE) and PAGE.
