The application of the ILO's Employment-Intensive Investment Programme (EIIP) has the optimal use of labour to reduce poverty as its objective. It encourages the use of local small and medium-sized enterprises, local technologies and resources in the construction and maintenance of infrastructure. This course will focus on the modalities to enhance the participation of local small and medium-sized enterprises in labour-based works, with a view to developing the local construction industry. Participants in this course will obtain practical tools and know-hows to provide decent employment opportunities for many unskilled informal economy workers, including women and youth, through the promotion of SMEs in labour-based works. This course will also provide a better knowledge of the use of labour-based techniques for the creation of decent jobs and the integration of unemployed youth.
