Workshop on infrastructure financing tools and systems in Mogadishu

From 17th to 22nd of February 2018, a week-long training workshop on financing public infrastructure, primary tools and systems was held in Mogadishu. It was addressed to 20 senior government officials representing Jubbaland, South West and Benadir regional administration.

The objective of the training was enhancing institutional capacity for effective public infrastructure investment and capable government institutions for efficient service delivery. The 6-day training workshop focused on essential policies, structures, feasibility studies, processes, tools and human capital requirements for successful public infrastructure financing in states and local governments of Somalia.

The workshop was supported by the UN Joint Programme on Local Governance and Decentralized Service Delivery (JPLG), a highly successful programme on financing public infrastructure, implemented by five UN agencies (including the ILO, UNCDF, UNDP, UN-HABITAT and UNICEF) and funded from the European Union, DFID, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and Denmark.
