  1. Training on Labour Dimensions of Trafficking in Persons in Malaysia

    8 - 10 April 2015

    Labour inspectors of the MOHR and other stakeholders participated in the training course on the labour dimensions of trafficking in persons in Malaysia with an aim to better understand and identify indicators of forced labour in labour exploitation situations.

  2. Paraguay-Argentina Bi-national Workshop: Strategies for Promoting the Rights of Migrant Domestic Workers and Their Families

    8 - 9 April 2015

    64 participants from Argentina and Paraguay discussed and exchanged experiences in promoting and defending the rights of migrant domestic workers at the bi-national workshop on Strategies for Promoting the Rights of Migrant Domestic Workers in Paraguay-Argentina organized under the auspices of the EU funded Global Action Programme on Migrant Domestic Workers and Their Families (GAP-MDW).

  3. Consultation Meeting on Qualitative Assessment of Returnees Migrant Domestic Workers in Indonesia

    The Global Action Programme on Migrant Domestic Workers and Their Families (GAP-MDW) organized a consultation meeting to provide a space for national constituents to share inputs and perspectives on proposal research on returned migrant domestic workers in Indonesia. The study aims to document through a qualitative survey the working conditions and forced labour risks faced by Indonesian domestic workers in Malaysia and their reintegration challenges.

  4. Trade Unions Workshop on Decent Work for Migrant Domestic Workers in Zimbabwe

    18 - 19 March 2015

    Zimbabwe Domestic and Allied Workers Union (ZDAWU) and Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) conducted a workshop to develop an action plan to promote decent work for migrant and national domestic workers. The workshop took place in the framework of the Global Action Programme on Migrant Domestic Workers and their families (GAP-MDW).

  5. SADSAWU Strategy Development Workshop for Organizing and Recruiting Migrant Domestic Workers

    6 - 7 March 2015

    The South African Domestic Services and Allied Workers Union (SADSAWU) organized a strategic planning workshop with an aim to review the activities for recruitment and organising of migrant domestic workers in South Africa. The workshop took place in the framework of the Global Action Programme on Migrant Domestic Workers and their families (GAP-MDW).

  6. Regional Conference on the Labour Dimensions of Trafficking in Persons in the ASEAN region

    27 - 29 January 2015

    Criminal justice and labour officers, inspectors and labour attachés from the ASEAN member states, social partners and other stakeholders participated in a regional conference on the Labour Dimensions of Trafficking in Persons organized with an aim to enhance participants’ understanding of the labour migration management, labour exploitation and criminal justice elements of labour trafficking.

  7. Founding Congress of Domestic Workers Union in Lebanon

    25 January 2015

    The Founding Congress of Domestic Workers Union in Lebanon took place on 25 January 2015 in Beirut with participation of 300 domestic and migrant domestic workers. The union is affiliated to the National Federation of Workers’ and Employees’ Unions in Lebanon (FENASOL).

  8. Policy Round Table and Research Discussion on Migrant Domestic Workers in Ukraine-Poland Corridor

    A policy round table was organized at the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine to present research findings on migrant domestic workers in Ukraine-Poland migration corridor, conducted under the auspices of the Global Action Programme on Migrant Domestic Workers and their Families (GAP-MDW).

  9. Cooperating Out of Isolation: The Case of Migrant Domestic Workers in Lebanon, Jordan and Kuwait

    14 - 15 December 2014

    Representatives from governments, worker’s organisations, informal domestic worker networks, and national and international experts on workers’ self-organisation gather in Amman to discuss and explore potential organizing services for domestic workers including cooperatives in Arab States.

  10. National Workshop for Policy Dialogue and Research Discussion on Employers of Domestic Workers in Malaysia

    ILO constituents and representatives of government, workers’ and employers’ organizations discussed results of the research on needs, preferences and practices of employers of domestic workers, conducted under the auspices of the Global Action Programme on Migrant Domestic Workers (GAP-MDW).
