The International Cooperative Alliance Policy Coordinator Georgia Papoutsi made an intervention at the 108th ILC Standards-Setting Committee on Ending violence and harassment in the world of work. She noted that the ICA welcomed and supported the decision of the standard setting committee that the instruments should take the form of a convention, supplemented by a recommendation. During her intervention she mentioned that the ICA approved a Declaration on Decent Work and against Harassment at its 2018 General Assembly in Buenos Aires. With this declaration the international cooperative movement committed itself to: respect, promote and act diligently to support the fundamental tenets of decent work towards a more inclusive future of work; defend the basic principles of dignity and equality in the new and emerging forms of employment; and prohibit within its sphere of influence all sexual harassment, including unwelcome sexual advances or conduct of a sexual nature that is intimidating, hostile or offensive.
