  2. Ecuador ratifies the Workers with Family Responsibilities Convention

    Ecuador is the 43rd ILO member State and the 10th member State in Latin America to ratify this Convention which seeks to promote equality of opportunity and treatment for both male and female workers with family responsibilities as well as between workers with family responsibilities and those without such responsibilities.

  3. Meeting of Experts on Forced Labour and Trafficking for Labour Exploitation

    The purpose of the Meeting was to formulate recommendations to the Governing Body on the scope for possible standard setting to complement the ILO’s Forced Labour Convention, 1930 (No. 29), and Abolition of Forced Labour Convention, 1957 (No. 105).

    Malta becomes the 34th ILO member State and the 12th EU member State to ratify this landmark Convention.

  7. Maldives ratifies the eight ILO fundamental Conventions

    16 January 2013

    The Maldives has ratified the eight ILO fundamental Conventions on 4 January 2013, dealing with four categories of fundamental principles and rights at work: freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining; the elimination of all forms of forced or compulsory labour; the effective abolition of child labour; and the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.
