Training programme that “Empowers, Skills, Employs”

Having gained a more detailed understanding of the challenges, ILO PROSPECTS Kenya partnered with Turkana and Garissa county governments, the East Africa Institute of Welding (EAIW) and the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) to deliver a dual-learning welding skills programme accessible to refugee and host communities.

Overcoming barriers and stereotypes: Social inclusion in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET)

In partnership with the East African Institute of Welding (EAIW) and the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM), a dual learning industrial welding training programme with low barriers to entry and deliberately targeting female youth and persons with disabilities has been developed and is currently being implemented in Turkana and Garissa Counties, Kenya.

ILO and the Central Bank of Iraq launch new financial initiative supporting youth and small and medium enterprises from host communities and displaced populations in Iraq

With support from the Government of the Netherlands, the initiative will provide young women and men and small businesses with access to much-needed financial services that will help them start and develop their own businesses, while addressing barriers to decent self-employment.

ILO PROSPECTS Egypt in collaboration with Skilllab, a social start-up based in the Netherlands, and the Association of Businessmen in Alexandria (ABA), is piloting a skills-profiling application allowing refugees and host communities to assess and communicate their skills to potential employers.
