Kenya Towards the ratification of Convention on PEAs, 1997 (No. 181)

The ILO through its FMPT Project is supporting Kenya’s effort towards the ratification of Convention on PEAs, 1997 (No. 181). A three-day national workshop was conducted to develop a roadmap for the ratification and consideration of ILO Instruments to protect migrant workers. A total of 20 participants drawn from Ministries of Labour, Foreign Affairs, Interior and Trade, Attorney General’s Office, Directorate of Immigration, NEA, COTU, FKE and Kenya National Commission on Human Rights attended the workshop from 10 - 12 February 2021 in Naivasha, Kenya. The main objective of the workshop was to develop a roadmap to roll out the ratification process of the ILO Convention on Private Employment Agencies (c181) in Kenya by identifying key gaps that exist within the existing laws that shall be complemented by the convention.
