Interregional dialogue

In order to foster a more collaborative and equitable approach to agenda setting between origin and destination countries, inter-regional dialogue between Africa and Arab States will be supported in specific policy areas, including on fair recruitment, skills development and matching, bilateral labour agreements () and domestic work – including on ratification of Convention No. 189 on Domestic Work. As part of such dialogue, representatives from selected Asian countries of origin will be invited to ensure cross-fertilization of experiences, good practices and programmes, and lessons learned. Building on the experience gained through regional consultative processes on migration (RCPs), such as the Abu Dhabi Dialogue (ADD) and the Colombo Process, such dialogue will seek to identify areas of shared interest to allow for governments and social partners to better understand each other’s positions in relation to labour migration, thereby setting the groundwork for greater collaboration and negotiation on fairer terms.
