Trainers in Iraq complete process to become certified trainers in ILO's Start and Improve Your Business

Implemented under PROSPECTS, the trainings will allow trainers to provide young entrepreneurs with the needed capacity building support to start or expand their businesses

Nineteen trainers from Iraq's Ninewa governorate have completed their requirements to become certified trainers on ILO’s Start and Improve Your Business, designed to support small-scale entrepreneurs to start or grow their businesses.

The trainers come from a wide spectrum of institutions including the Labour and Vocational Training Department of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs in Ninewa, universities in Mosul, local NGOs, the Chamber of Industry in Ninewa and a business incubator, providing support for start-up and small businesses.

They have been working with the ILO for over a year on its Training of Trainers programme, where they have trained hundreds of start-up entrepreneurs and those wanting to expand existing businesses on the package, under the guidance of ILO’s SIYB Master Trainer.

To conclude the certification requirements, a competency refresher workshop was held in Sulaimaniyah between March 14-18, 2023.

The trainers will ensure that young entrepreneurs are provided with the needed capacity building support to start or expand their businesses - under the PROSPECTS Partnership to promote decent employment and entrepreneurship among young people in Iraq, with the support of the Government of the Netherlands.
