This panel discussion is to advocate and raise awareness about violence and harassment in world of work and promote ratification of ILO C190 concerning violence and harassment, the very first international treaty to recognize the right of everyone to a world of work free from violence and harassment, including gender-based violence and harassment.

The Parliament of Mongolia approved a new Labour Law in July 2021, which will take effect on January 1, 2022. The tripartite social partners are working together to promote and advocate the law.

ILO/MONEF Guided Practical Sessions for Trained Facilitators of IN BUSINESS Programme

Validation Workshop of the Herder Programme Held in Khentii province

As part of the ILO-led UN Joint Programme (UNJP) “Extending Social Protection to Herders with Enhanced Shock Responsiveness,” ILO has three main areas of intervention towards extending social protection to herders. One of them is to support the herders to increase their income. The main objectives of the intervention are to 1) improve herder’s life skills and update their knowledge on the livestock production, 2) set up a knowledge infrastructure tailored to enable herders to access information equally.

Trade Union Delegates Prepared as Advocates for Social Protection

In Mongolia, the new labour law will be effective from January 2022. It regulates the relation between herder and assistant herder and requires a labour contract between them for the first time. Therefore, to effectively manage the contractual relationship, herders must know about concepts of freedom of association, collective bargaining, and social protection to govern their contractual relationship like standard practices in many other parts of the world.

International Labour Standards Training for Law Professionals in Mongolia

International labour standards (ILS) adopted by the International Labour Organization (ILO) are important tools for the development of national legislation. However, the contribution of international labour law is not limited to its impact on labour legislation. ILS can also contribute to strengthening domestic case law on labour matters.

Social Insurance Officers Discuss Their Effort to Extend Social Protection to Herders

The ILO-led UN Joint Programme (UNJP) “Extending Social Protection to Herders with Enhanced Shock Responsiveness” has been collaborating with the Competency-Based Education Center NGO (CBE) on training social insurance officers in western provinces of Mongolia with an aim to increase the social insurance coverage of herders.
