ILO/GASI Webinar on Extending Social Security to Workers in the Informal Economy
The General Authority for Social Insurance is organizing a series of expert level consultations on extending social security to workers in the informal economy, supported by the ILO RBSA project on Promoting Formal Employment for Inclusive and Diversified Economic Growth in Mongolia.


- To facilitate a knowledge-based dialogue among relevant national stakeholders, learning from international experiences
- To develop workable ideas and recommendations on extending social security to workers in the informal economy with a view to contributing to the ongoing discussion on the social insurance reform.
The first webinar will cover the following sessions:
- Informal Employment in Mongolia: Current situation and trends
- Informal Economy Workers: Social insurance coverage, advantages and disadvantages of the social insurance administration to address needs of these workers and possible solutions to extend the coverage
- ILO strategies, international experiences and lessons
About 30 social protection and labour experts, practitioners and staff from the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, the General Authority for Social Insurance, the National Statistical Office, the Confederation of Mongolian Trade Unions, the Mongolian Employers’ Federation, the Research Institute for Labour and Social Protection, and independent researchers will attend.
