BEIJING (ILO News) – The Chinese government, workers’ and employers’ organizations and the ILO signed the new Decent Work Country Programme (DWCP) for China 2016-2020.

The DWCP 2016-2020 sets out the country priorities and the areas of cooperation between China and the ILO for the next five years. It reflects a joint vision of ILO support for China’s efforts in advancing the national and global Decent Work Agenda.

The development of the current DWCP involves a series of reviews and consultations among Chinese tripartite partners to determine the following three priority areas:
  • increase quantity and quality of employment,
  • promote and extend social protection, and
  • strengthen the rule of law and realization of fundamental principles and rights at work.

China has become the second largest economy in the world and a leader on the global scene. The ILO stands ready to work with the constituents in China to promote social justice and fair globalization, leverage China’s experience in job creation and poverty alleviation by expanding South-South cooperation and supporting “the Belt and Road” initiative.

We work...towards realizing decent work in China, as well as with the support of China realizing promoting decent work in other countries of the world."
