Programmes and projects

The ILO operates a wide range of programmes and projects in Asia Pacific focusing on relief and development challenges. The overall purpose of this technical cooperation is to support implementation of the Decent Work agenda in each country.

  1. Advancing Social Protection in Cambodia

    1 February 2021 - 31 December 2024

    Advancing social protection in Cambodia extends social protection coverage and quality of provisions by improving operational capabilities of social protection institutions and the adaptability of existing schemes to the characteristics and needs of those working in the informal sector and the vulnerable. The project is a joint collaboration between ILO, UNICEF and the EU Delegation in Cambodia over a 4 years’ time frame.

  2. Asia Regional Child Labour Programme - Afghanistan (DWCP Outcome 2.4)

    1 February 2021 - 30 September 2023

    The Asia Regional Child Labour Programme (ARC) aims to reduce vulnerability to child labour and enhance protection of children from exploitation in Afghanistan to contribute to the eradication of child labour, particularly its worst forms. The ARC will contribute to the achievement of Outcome 2 of the Afghanistan Decent Work Country Programme.

  3. Young Futuremakers Thailand – Promoting Youth Employability

    1 February 2021 - 30 April 2022

    The Young Futuremakers Thailand project is part of the Futuremakers by Standard Chartered initiative and aims to support youth in the labour market, in particular disadvantaged young women and young persons with disabilities, through the provision of demand-led technical skills training, employability training, career guidance and job placements.

  4. Promoting Decent Work through Good Governance, Protection and Empowerment of Migrant Workers

    18 January 2021 - 31 August 2024

    Supported by the Government of Switzerland, this programme aims at ensuring an effective implementation of the Sri Lanka National Labour Migration Policy- Phase IV while promoting decent work through good governance, protection and empowerment of migrant workers.

  5. Promotion of Decent Employment and Entrepreneurship for Young and Women Coffee Farmers through Environmentally Sustainable Productions of Specialty and Organic Coffee

    1 January 2021 - 31 December 2022

    This project focuses on promoting decent work and improving the living and working conditions for small producers of organic forest coffee in small pilot area of Shan State.

  6. The ILO's Global Centre on Digital Wages for Decent Work: activities in the Philippines

    1 January 2021 - 31 May 2024

    The project promotes the responsible transition from cash to digital wage payments for the benefit of workers, employers, and the government. Its target beneficiaries are small and medium sized enterprises that continue to pay cash-based wages and have an interest in digitizing their payroll and workers employed in these. The Philippines is one of the countries in which the project operates globally.

  9. Supply chains for a sustainable future of work: Decent work in the rubber glove supply chain

    1 January 2021 - 30 March 2024

    The project is a joint initiative of the International Labour Organization and European Union (EU) that sets out to advance decent work in five selected global supply chains for a fair, resilient, and sustainable COVID-19 crisis recovery. Rubber glove manufacturing in Malaysia is one of them.

  10. Employment and Livelihood Project

    1 January 2021 - 30 April 2022

    This joint project between ILO, UNDP, UNHCR and UNAIDS aims to support women and vulnerable groups in Indonesia that have been disproportionately affected by COVID-19.

  11. Trade for Decent Work Project

    1 January - 31 December 2021

    The project aims at improving the application of the ILO Conventions on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work under the framework of EU special incentive arrangement for Sustainable Development and Good Governance (GSP+)

  12. Trade for Decent Work Project

    1 January 2021 - 30 June 2024

    Sustaining Strengthened National Capacities to Improve ILS Compliance and Reporting (Mongolia). The project aims at improving the application of the ILO fundamental Conventions in Mongolia through improved labour relations and working conditions.

  13. Improved social dialogue, tripartism and better application of basic rights on freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining

    1 January 2021 - 31 December 2022

    This intervention promotes social dialogue to improve the Philippines’ compliance with national and international labour standards in selected economic zones and is part of an integrated strategy that feeds into policy and legal reforms, including COVID-19 responses.

  14. Trade for Decent Work Project

    1 January 2021 - 31 December 2023

    The ILO-EU Trade for Decent Work Project (Trade4DW) in the Philippines is part of the global Trade for Decent Work Project, which was established in 2019 by both the European Commission (EC) and the International Labour Organization (ILO) to help improve labour relations and working conditions, and ensure better application of international labour standards (ILS) in the EU’s trading partner countries, including the Philippines.

  15. Rebuilding Better: Fostering Business Resilience Post-COVID-19

    1 January 2021 - 31 October 2022

    The Rebuilding Better project, supported by J.P. Morgan, supports women entrepreneurs in Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and adopt more sustainable and resilient business models by strengthening their access to vital support services.

  17. Safety + Health for All Workers in South Asia: India Component

    23 December 2020 - 31 December 2023

    The ILO/Japan project on “Safety + Health for All Workers in South Asia” is being implemented in the framework of the ILO’s Flagship programme “Safety + Health for All”. The project will contribute towards improving the safety and health of workers in plantation sector in South Asia (India, Nepal, Sri Lanka). This page describes the India component under the project.

  18. Improved Workers' Rights in Rural Sectors of the Indo-Pacific with a Focus on Women

    1 December 2020 - 30 November 2024

    This ILO project, funded by the US Department of Labor (US DOL), aims to improve the promotion and compliance to labour laws, occupational safety and health, and gender equality in the rural sectors in the Philippines and Indonesia, with a focus on women workers.
