Programmes and projects

The ILO operates a wide range of programmes and projects in Asia Pacific focusing on relief and development challenges. The overall purpose of this technical cooperation is to support implementation of the Decent Work agenda in each country.

  1. The Indigenous Peoples Development Programme (IPDP): Caraga Region

    15 June 2009 - 31 December 2013

    The ILO works with indigenous peoples through enabling policies that engage them in exercising a full range of rights, including those delineated in the Philippine Constitution, the Indigenous Peoples’ Rights Act (IPRA) and the nation’s medium-term development plans.

  2. Greener Business Asia

    1 June 2009 - 31 December 2014

    Building capacity to achieve greener workplaces and sustainable enterprises through worker-employer cooperation.

  3. Social Accounting Matrix Advisory Support And Monitoring Assistance (SAMASAMA)

    1 June 2009 - 31 December 2010

    This project aims to enhance diagnostic and policy advisory capacities available in Indonesia through development of tools and monitoring and evaluation systems that analyze 1) the impact of public spending on employment and poverty reduction, and 2) the cost-effectiveness of the government investments.

  4. India: Social dialogue for green jobs promotion

    Since 2009, the ILO is supporting green jobs initiatives in India with a particular focus on climate change and sectoral approaches for green jobs creation.

  5. ILO-INTUC Pilot Project on “Decent Work for Domestic Workers: Organizing, Skills Upgradation and Advocacy

    A demonstration programme for improving the working and living conditions of domestic workers on a sustainable basis, as well as enhancing capacities in project areas through organizing, skill upgradation and training and advocacy; and to strengthen the capacities of implementing partner unions by organizing unorganized domestic workers as well as networking with various stakeholders.

  6. Sustaining Competitive and Responsible Enterprises (SCORE) Project

    1 May 2009 - 1 August 2012

    The development objective of SCORE is that SMEs are more sustainable through being cleaner, more productive and competitive and provide more sustainable and decent employment.

  7. Promotion of Equality and Decent Work for Women: Prevention of Human Trafficking, Protection of Domestic Workers and Capacity Building for Gender Equality

    31 March 2009 - 30 April 2010

    Funded by the Government of Norway, ILO works with social partners in supporting DWCP outcomes through a programme that has contributed to the prevention of human trafficking, the protection of domestic workers and capacity building for gender equality.

  8. ILO-EEC Return and Reintegration Project Going Back-Moving On: Economic and Social Empowerment of Migrants including Victims of Trafficking Returned from the EU and its Neighbouring Countries

    The International Labour Organization-European Economic Community (ILO-ECC) Project serves as the response of the ILO to the plight of Thai and Filipino migrants.

  9. Monitoring and Assessing Progress on Decent Work (MAP)

    1 February 2009 - 1 January 2013

    The ILO/EC project will work with government agencies (including Ministries of Labour), National Statistical Offices, workers’ and employers’ organisations and research institutions to strengthen the capacity of developing and transition countries to self-monitor and self-assess progress towards decent work.

  10. Assessing and Addressing the Effects of Trade on Employment (ETE) in Indonesia

    1 February 2009 - 30 June 2013

    Analysing and supporting formulation of effective and coherent trade and labour market policies that address the adjustment challenges that workers and employers face and expand opportunities for the creation of decent employment in developing countries.

  11. Effective Implementation of National OSH Programme for Improving Safety and Health at the Workplace in Viet Nam

    1 January 2009 - 1 December 2011

    The project contributes to implementing Decent Work Country Programmes (DWCP) and National OSH Programme through realization of safe and healthy workplaces and communities, and productive workplace environment in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and poverty reduction in the community level. The project is implemented in cooperation with WHO to promote One-UN Policy.

  12. Subregional Programme on Quality and Decent Work Promotion for Women in South Asia through Prevention of Human Trafficking, Skills Development of Domestic Workers and Gender Capacity Building

    1 January 2009 - 30 June 2010

    To prevent labour exploitation and crimes of human trafficking through a rights-based approach; to eliminate abuse and promote decent work for this largely female, uneducated and disadvantaged labour force; and to contribute to the establishment of effective equal employment opportunity mechanisms between ILO constituents and women’s machineries to provide decent work to women and their families in poverty.

  13. Monitoring and Assessing the Progress of Decent Work (MAP)

    1 January 2009 - 31 December 2013

    The realisation of decent work as a contribution to social justice and reducing poverty and income inequality in developing and transition countries.

  14. Investment Budget Execution Support for Rural Infrastructure Development and Employment Generation (TIM Works) Project - European Economic Community (Timor-Leste)

    1 January 2009 - 31 December 2010

    The 2006 Timor-Leste and Development Partners Meeting displayed the commitment of the Government to promote accelerated economic growth under its Combating Poverty as a National Cause Plan, and progress towards the objectives defined by the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), particularly in areas related with the Eradication of Extreme Poverty, and the Development and Implementation of Strategies for Decent and Productive Work.

  15. Realizing Minimum Living Standards for Disadvantaged Communities through Peace Building and Village Based Economic Development (PELAGANDONG Project)

    1 January 2009 - 31 December 2012

    The project aims to contribute to poverty reduction and peace building process in the Maluku Province through the development of sustainable livelihoods and economic activities in selected communities.

  16. Equality and Decent Work Promotion for Asian women through Prevention of Human Trafficking, Protection of Domestic Workers and Gender Capacity Building

    1 January - 31 December 2009

    The Project aims to increase tripartite organizations and other development organizations their commitments to promote gender equality at work, prevent human trafficking, and protect domestic workers from labour exploitation.

  17. MDG-F Joint Programme on Climate Change Adaptation: Climate Resilient Farming Communities in Agusan del Norte through Innovative Risk Transfer Mechanisms

    1 December 2008 - 30 December 2011

    The International Labour Organization (ILO) works with UN agency, local and national partners to help communities to access resources and reduce risk to disasters triggered by climate change. The project explores risk transfer mechanisms including revolving funds and insurance schemes, and assists farmers to diversify their livelihood base and reduce risk exposure.

  18. ASEAN-ILO/Japan Industrial Relations Project

    28 October 2008 - 31 December 2014

    Implemented jointly by the ASEAN Secretariat and the ILO, this project aims to improve industrial relations in the ASEAN countries.

  19. Creative Industries Support Programme (MDG-F)

    1 October 2008 - 30 September 2011

    Promotion of small enterprise development, livelihood opportunities for indigenous people, gender equality and cultural preservation.
