The International Labour Organization (ILO) in Hanoi on August 2 launched an important report, indicating the need for a comprehensive reform in Viet Nam’s pension scheme as Viet Nam Social Security will soon need to start selling assets to pay pensions.

On the commemoration of Global Breastfeeding Week, the International Labour Organization (ILO), UNICEF and the World Health Organization (WHO) congratulated the Government of the Philippines for the significant increase in exclusive breastfeeding rates in the country. However, the challenge of breastfeeding when a mother returns to work still remains. Many working women face difficulties with the risk of income loss after giving birth.

The inauguration was at Sri Lanka Foundation Institute (SLFI). This is the thirteenth in the series, which CENWOR started in 1989 to provide a forum for those conducting research on gender issues to present their findings.

Photo exhibition highlights the positive aspects of migrant workers' lives in Thailand

The Thai Ministry of Labour and the United Nations have launched a photo exhibition highlighting the positive aspects of migrant workers’ lives in Thailand. “A Positive Image” exhibition, aims to draw attention to the often positive experiences that many migrant workers have in Thailand and to promote a positive image of migrants in line with their contribution to the Thai economy and society. The exhibition is being held at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre from 24 to 29 July 2012.

Luang Prabang training to strengthen tourism industry

Representatives of the Lao Government, workers and employers organizations take part in a Training of Trainers programme to improve skills and practices in the tourism sector. The training is held in Luang Prabang, 23-27 July 2012. It aims to develop more local trainers and strengthen their facilitation skills, so that they can train hotel staff and managers in Luang Prabang.
