    Vocational Training Course for Young Migrant Workers launched in Samut Sakhon

    With technical and financial support from the ILO/IPEC the Labour Rights Promotion Network (LPN) has begun collaborating with the Provincial Non-Formal Education Office and the Mahachai Automotive Institute of Technology (MIAT) to provide vocational training and job alternatives for young migrant workers in the Maung District of Samut Sakhon.

    The Ambassador of New Zealand H.E. Tony Fautua and the Secretary of State for the Support and Promotion of the Private Sector H.E. Veneranda Lemos, and Ms. Michiko Miyamoto, Deputy Director of the International labour Organisation (ILO) Country Office for Indonesia and Timor-Leste today signed an agreement for New Zealand contribution of 3.9 million US Dollars to the Business Opportunities and Support Services Project (BOSS) Project, implemented by the (ILO) and the Instituto de Apoio ao Desenvolvimento Empresarial (IADE).

    Request for Proposal (RFP)-Study on the implications of Food provision on Garment Worker’s Health and Productivity

    On behalf of the International Labour Organization (hereinafter the “ILO”), I would like to invite your company to submit a proposal for the provision of internet services as described in the Terms of Reference (TOR) attached as Annex I and the Terms and Conditions applicable to ILO Contracts for Services attached as Annex II. The services relate to the provision of a Study on the implications of Food provision on Garment Worker’s Health and Productivity (hereinafter the “Services”) to the ILO Country Office in Cambodia. This solicitation letter together with its Annexes listed below form an integral part of the present Request for Proposal (RFP). To ensure competition, all interested bidders will receive the same RFP documentation.

    A new “bill of rights” – the ILO’s Maritime Labour Convention – comes into force, ensuring protection for the world’s 1.5 million seafarers and fair competition for shipowners. Viet Nam is the 37th country to ratify the Convention.

    To mark the day, the ILO will organize a panel with high-level representatives of seafarers, ship-owners and port authorities from Singapore's maritime sector, and Cleopatra Doumbia-Henry, Director of the ILO International Labour Standards Department, who is the key ILO expert on the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC 2006).
