    ILO to promote food security and sustainable livelihoods in Kupang

    Food insecurity is one of the most significant development constraints in Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) Province of Indonesia. Food availability is significantly impacted by severe agro-climatic conditions and seasonality. Although the Government of NTT has been promoting agricultural production and has adopted protection measures for its farmers, the growth rate of the agriculture sector has still remained the lowest compared with trade and services.

    Inception workshop to launch the project “Livelihood restoration and protection and sustainable empowerment of vulnerable Hari communities in Sindh province”

    Officials of the Government of Sindh and UN and members of civil society participated in the inception workshop to mark the formal launching of this project. The project is funded by United Nations Trust Fund for Human Security with support from the Government of Japan and will be jointly implemented by the Government of Sindh, FAO, ILO and UNWOMEN.

    ILO-IPEC Thailand works together with DOF and DLPW to train fisheries officials on Child Labour and Forced Labour and organizes series of consultations

    The ILO-IPEC Thailand commenced a new leg in its work against child labour and forced labour in the fisheries sector through a series of capacity building and training efforts aimed at training and orienting Provincial DOF staff on child labour and forced labour laws and regulations with focus on aquamarine shrimp farming which begun on the 22nd of August.

    Vocational Training Course for Young Migrant Workers launched in Samut Sakhon

    With technical and financial support from the ILO/IPEC the Labour Rights Promotion Network (LPN) has begun collaborating with the Provincial Non-Formal Education Office and the Mahachai Automotive Institute of Technology (MIAT) to provide vocational training and job alternatives for young migrant workers in the Maung District of Samut Sakhon.
