  1. Launch of Report: Impact of COVID-19 on nexus between climate change and labour migration in selected South Asian countries: An exploratory study

    The study is anchored in the risk that migrants face due to climate change, further exacerbated by COVID-19 and its negative implications on the world of work in South Asian countries, especially in Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka. The study further explores innovative solutions by governments, businesses and civil society organizations to overcome these existing challenges. The report is scheduled for a virtual launch on 25 January 2022 from 3:00 – 4:30PM IST

  2. Skilling Sri Lankan migrant workers towards the Global talent pool

    Marking International Migrants Day (18 December), the ILO Country Office jointly with the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) organised a multi-stakeholder consultative forum on “Skilling Sri Lankan migrant workers towards the Global talent pool”.

  3. Bilateral workshop of TVETs between Hangzhou Technician Institute of China and Center for Vocational Training of Myanmar

    Following the launching of the Skills Development Network through South-South Cooperation, the ILO-China Programme convened on-line Workshop of Cooperation and Exchange between Hangzhou Technician Institute of China and Center for Vocational Training (CVT) of Myanmar. A total of 14 representatives from Hangzhou Technician Institute, Center for Vocational Training, Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China, and ILO colleagues attended the meeting on 24 January 2022.

    On January 21, 2022, ILO-China Partnership Project convened a South-South Cooperation workshop on TVET institutional capacity building and Peer-to-Peer Cooperation.

  5. The ILO-China Partnership Project Convened Online Peer-to-Peer Cooperation Workshop between Hainan Technician College and National Polytechnic Institute of Angkor

    34 delegates from Hainan Technician College, National Polytechnic Institute of Angkor, Department of International Exchange and Cooperation of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China, ILO and school-enterprise cooperation firms participated in the meeting. The two sides had in-depth exchanges and discussions on the specific work of cooperation. Representatives of the two colleges reached agreements that cooperation training on AI and robots would be implemented in 2022.

  9. Peer-to-Peer Workshop of Cooperation and Exchange between Yunnan Advanced Technical School of Electronic Information and Lao-German Technical College , via zoom on 19 January 2022

    On January 19th, 2022, a peer-to-peer workshop of cooperation and exchange between Yunnan Advanced Technical School of Electronic Information and Lao-German Technical College was successfully held online. Khamsavay Gnommilavong, Director of Lao-German Technical College, Wei Fan, President of Yunnan Advanced Technical School of Electronic Information; Jin Zhang, Vice President of the school; Khemphone Phaokhamkeo, ILO Coordinator in Lao PDR, Yutong Liu, Manager and Coordinator of the ILO China Skills Development Project, representative from Department of International Cooperation, MOHRSS, China, and other participants from both TVET participated in the workshop. The workshop was moderated by Keovanlay Phanthavong, National Project Coordinator.

  10. ILO-China Partnership Project convened a South-South Cooperation workshop on TVET institutional capacity building and Peer-to-Peer Cooperation January 17, 2022

    Representatives from Guangxi Technician College of Machinery and Electricity and Vientiane Capital Skill Development Center of Lao PDR shared their experiences in skills development, certification, as well as challenges in enrolment, training of trainers etc. Both TVETs agreed to continue their peer-to-peer cooperation, with a focus on curriculum development, TOT exchange programme and skills competition. The workshop is a follow-up event to the launch of the Skills Development Network through South-South Cooperation under ILO-China Partnership Project.

    On January 14, 2022, ILO-China Partnership Project convened a South-South Cooperation workshop on TVET institutional capacity building and Peer-to-Peer Cooperation.

  12. Bilateral workshop of TVETs between Wuxi Institute of Technician of China and Preah Sihanouk Cambodia-China Friendship Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia

    Under the Skills Development Network through South-South Cooperation initiative, the ILO-China Partnership Programme convened on-line Workshop of Cooperation and Exchange between Wuxi Institute of Technician (WIT) and Preah Sihanouk Cambodia-China Friendship Polytechnic Institute (PCCFPI). A total of 19 representatives from WIT, PCCFPI, Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone (SSES), Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China attended the meeting. Participants agreed to discuss in more details of the cooperation at technical level and will draft the multilateral cooperation framework agreement.

  3. ILO and DOLE Coordination Meeting on Super Typhoon Rai (Odette) Response
