  1. ILO 90th Anniversary in the Philippines: Decent Work and Social Justice in Times of Crisis

    22 April 2009

    As the International Labour Organization marked its 90th anniversary, a forum on “Decent Work and Social Justice in Times of Crisis” was held on 22 April 2009. The forum discussed impacts of the global economic crisis on the labour sector and assessed how to move forward toward sustainable economic recovery.

  2. ILO celebrates its 90th anniversary

    21 - 28 April 2009

    In 2009 the International Labour Organization celebrates its 90th anniversary. To mark this milestone in Asia and the Pacific, special events will be held in many countries between 21-28 April, on the theme of “90 years working for social justice”.

  3. Regional Tripartite Workshop on Improving Safety and Health in Mining for Selected Asian Countries

    16 - 17 April 2009

    With basis on discussions of the Sectoral and Technical Meetings Committee (STM), the Governing Body, at its March 2008 Session, decided that a tripartite workshop be held on improving safety and health in mining for selected Asian countries.

  1. ILO-Japan Institute for Labour Policy and Training: Final Technical Workshop of the 5th Round of Joint Investigative Studies on Promoting Decent Work in Global Production Systems in Asia and the Pacific

    The final technical workshop will conclude the fifth round of joint investigative studies under the ILO-Japan Institute for Labour Policy and Training project.

  1. First Regional Seminar on Industrial Relations in the ASEAN Region

    26 - 27 February 2009

    The tripartite seminar is an opportunity for tripartite constituents in the ASEAN countries to exchange good practices and share views about industrial relations. Keynote speeches on Global and Regional Perspective on Good Industrial Relations and presentations from different countries on i) Labour Dispute Settlement, ii) Collective Bargaining/Tripartite Dialogue, iii) Changing Forms of Employment and New Employment Relationships, iv) Social Dialogue and Response to the Current Financial Crisis will be the highlights of the two day seminar.

  2. ILO/MOL Training Workshop on Labour Migration Policy and Management in Thailand

    23 - 27 February 2009

    The workshop aims to enhance the capacity of government officials to improve and rationalize the management of labour migration.

  3. High-Level Regional Forum on Responding to the Economic Crisis - Coherent Policies for Growth, Employment and Decent Work in Asia and the Pacific

    18 - 20 February 2009

    In coping with the current crisis, most countries in Asia and the Pacific benefit from sound financial institutions and a record of sustained growth and macroeconomic stability. Poverty however remains widespread and systems of social protection are fragile and underdeveloped. Even a slight decline in the rates of economic growth can have dramatic social repercussions, particularly among vulnerable sectors and groups. Social distress intersects with political instabilities and tensions. A strong Asian response to the crisis is a critical component of the strategy to set the global economy on a sustainable path out of recession.

  2. ILO/Aoyama Gakuin University Lecture Series 2009: ILO's Crisis Response and Restoration/Reconstruction Activity including Experiences in Aceh

    For the second year the ILO and Aoyama Gakuin University are co-organising a series of lectures around the theme of Decent Work. A series of 13 lectures is planned between 24 September 2009 and 14 January 2010. Each of the 90 minute lectures will be given by a distinguished expert in the field, drawn from the ILO's HQ in Geneva, from the ILO's Regional Headquarters in Bangkok, or in Japan. The aim of the lecture series is to encourage recognition of the ILO's activities in the world of work, to increase understanding of international labour-related problems, and to strengthen the relationship between the ILO and academia.

  2. ILO/Korea Fellowship Training on Approaches for the Employers to promote the training and hiring of disabled persons (KEPAD)

    10 - 12 December 2008

    This fellowship training is organized by the ILO and KEPAD. The purpose is to give a delegation from Sri Lanka an opportunity to look more closely at the unique approaches that KEPAD has utilized, in collaboration with the business community, to result in the training and hiring of people with disabilities.

    The meeting aims to compare and discuss RMCS validation among the sending countries and Korea and reach a common understanding on the RMCS for manufacturing.

  2. Course A352058 - Regional "Visioning" Workshop APYouthNet Community of Practice

    25 - 27 November 2008

    The Workshoop aim on bringing together people who share a passion on the subject and Knowledge Network on Decent Work.

  3. Asian Regional Conference on Labour Law and Labour Market in the 21st Century

    15 - 16 November 2008

    The Conference will gather labour law experts and researchers in the region

  4. ILO/SKILLS-AP/Thailand Regional Technical Meeting on Improving Skills Recognition and Quality and Qualification Systems for IMT-GT and GMS Countries

    4 - 6 November 2008

    The meeting will focus on better understanding of different approaches to skills recognition, to enable countries to better plan their own development, to identify areas for potential collaboration between countries, and to identify further research and development of tools that the ILO could assist with.

  3. ILO/Korea Fellowship Training on Work Injury Insurance (COMWEL), October 2008

    13 - 17 October 2008

    This fellowship training course is jointly organized by the ILO and the Korea Workers’ Compensation and Welfare Service (COMWEL) in Seoul, Republic of Korea. The course aims to provide participants with increased knowledge, awareness and skills related to work injury insurance schemes with focus on Industrial Accident Compensation Insurance (IACI) and work injury insurance schemes in the region; and increased capacity for policy tools, legal/administrative mechanisms.
