    The “Breaking Barriers, Building Futures: ASEAN Regional Dialogue on Young People’s Skills, Employability and Transition to Decent Work” was co-organized by the ASEAN Secretariat, the International Labour Organization (ILO), and UNICEF in collaboration with the UNDP, UNESCO, and UN Women, through the endorsement of the ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Youth (SOMY) on 17-18 October 2023 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

  2. Fourth Joint Dialogue on labour migration between the ASEAN Trade Union Council and the ASEAN Confederation of Employers

    The ASEAN Confederation of Employers (ACE) and the ASEAN Trade Union Council (ATUC) and their country-level affiliates are meeting in Vientiane, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, on 14 February 2024 for a Fourth Joint Dialogue on labour migration.

  2. Support to Development of ASEAN Guidelines on Portability of Social Security Benefits for Migrant Workers

    ILO’s TRIANGLE in ASEAN is supporting the ASEAN Committee on Migrant Workers to develop ASEAN Guidelines on Portability of Social Security Benefits for Migrant Workers. The process is led by the Cambodia Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training with support from the ASEAN Secretariat and the ILO. The year-long process involves a series of consultations and training activities.

    Realizing women migrant workers’ rights in ASEAN region – main outcomes

    At an InfoPoint organized by the European Commission, the ILO presented key results of the Safe and Fair project, which is part of the EU-UN Spotlight Initiative and implemented across ten countries in Southeast Asia.

  4. Disability rights and domestic work in ASEAN

    In 2023 the ILO TRIANGLE in ASEAN programme conducted a study about the skills and working conditions of migrant domestic workers in Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand, the findings from which were published in the report Skilled to care, forced to work? Recognizing the skills profiles of migrant domestic workers in ASEAN amid forced labour and exploitation. This study asked 1,200 migrant domestic workers about care to persons with disabilities and about protection if they themselves acquire a disability. The study also surveyed 600 employers. This brief is based on the study’s findings.
