  1. Study Visit of Thai Trade Union Representatives to Indonesia on Protection of Migrant Workers

    The visit is the first step in the efforts to strengthen the cooperation between trade unions in Indonesia and in Thailand, the ILO-IPEC Shrimp Project and ILO ASEAN Triangle Projects have planned to organize a study visit of representatives of Thai trade unions to Indonesia to exchange information and learn from experiences and good practices with a focus on shrimp and seafood industry.

  1. Trade union leaders in the Asia Pacific region to consider strategies to halt weaking of union rights

    Around 40 trade union leaders from 20 countries in the Asia Pacific region are attending a seminar organized by the ILO Bureau for Workers‘ Activities (ACTRAV) on strengthening union activities. The seminar is taking place at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka, Bangladesh on 24 - 26 June.

  2. ILO-KSTL Leadership Training on International Labour Standards and Collective Bargaining

    Timor Lorosae Trade Union Confederation (KSTL/TLTUC) is the trade union center in Timor Leste with some 7,000-8,000 members. To date trade unions have been working to organize workers mainly in the formal sector through democratic representative structures, raising awareness of labour rights, advocacy and collective bargaining.

  3. Union Workshop on Wage Fixing Policy

    Minimum wage has always been a difficult, complex and controversial question in Indonesia and in many developing countries in the world. Achieving a balance between the economic and social objectives of minimum wage setting is a continuing challenge for policy makers, employers and workers. Employers are concerned about ability to pay and unions and activists about maintaining decent standards of living for workers. Policy makers must balance the demands of maintaining a wage floor for workers on the one hand, and the potential employment or inflation effects of wage setting on the other.

  4. Employers discuss 2015 minimum wage increase, better co-ordination and evidence-based data needed

    Regional minimum wages could increase in 2015 in accordance with growth rate of Gross Domestic Products and inflation, employers’ organizations have recommended.

  5. Training to Second Line Leaders on Core Labour Standards (CLS) Ratification Campaign Guidebook

    To provide training to the trade union second line leaders / cadres on Promotion of CLS ratification and its implementation; to field test and provide training on CLS campaign Guidebook to enable the second line leaders / cadres to actively take part and take forward the campaigns in the state; and to discuss on all the other project activities to be taken up from June to December 2014.
