  1. Stakeholder Consultation on the Existing Legislation on Trafficking in Persons in Sri Lanka.

    The Ministry of Justice & Law Reforms in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO) is organizing a National Stakeholder Consultation on the Implementation of the Existing Legislation on Trafficking in Persons in Sri Lanka. The Consultation is organized cognizant of the need to revisit the national legislation on Trafficking in Persons with a view to recognizing its potential as well as identifying challenges to implementation. It is envisaged that the Consultation will help build consensus and leverage services to eliminate all forms of trafficking in persons, in Sri Lanka. The Consultation will secure the participation of all national stakeholders including the Ministries of Justice & Law Reforms, Foreign Affairs, and Foreign Employment Promotion & Welfare, The Attorney General’s Department, Police Department, Sri Lanka Navy and the National Child Protection Authority.

  1. Pacific regional maritime labour standards promotion and port worker protection programme

    The proposed programme addresses issues of International Labour Standards and decent work promotion, as well as protection for maritime workers. It builds on past ILO projects to promote ILS ratification and implementation and specifically builds on the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) gap analyses recently carried out. It also seeks to implement the ILO report on establishment of a regional seafarers' identity documents (SIDs) issuance system.

    The ILO Better Factories Cambodia in partnership with Radio Mohanokor FM93.5 is launching a radio competition allowing garment workers to compete using their knowledge of the Cambodia’s labour law.

    Trade union leaders from the ten ASEAN member States just completed a three day meeting to discuss the Charter and its implications for South East Asia’s workers. The event was jointly organized by the ILO,the International Trade Union Confederation Asia Pacific and the ASEAN Trade Union Council.

    The training will be conducted in Lao by Small and Medium Enterprises Development Office (SMEPDO) and the Lao Disabled Women Development Centre. It aims to ensure that programmes on enterpreneurship development skills include women and men with disabilities.

  5. Advisory Group Meeting on Economic and Social Empowerment of Thai and Filipino Migrants including Victims of Trafficking, Returned from the EU and Neighbouring Countries

    The MEETING will provide the participants with an opportunity to discuss strengthened cooperation between sending and receiving countries on the return of migrants who have been exploited including trafficked victims. All resource persons will be asked to present papers on their countries’ return and reintegration programs, existing services, gaps and continuing challenges

    The International Labour Office (ILO) and the Kingdom of Cambodia have agreed today to a three-year cooperation framework and plan of action that will help the country recover from the economic and social crisis facing the region and build a stronger platform for future development.
