    The ILO extended its support to Tboli and Ubo people through a programme called "Support to Poverty Reduction and Production of Human Rights among the Indigenous Peoples (IPs) in the context of Ancestral Domain Development and Protection". In this Programme, the IPs are given the chance to develop their own capacity by taking greater responsibility for and leadership in their own development processes.

  3. Indigenous peoples development programme (IPDP) Caraga Region, Southern Philippines: Final project fact sheet

    The population of indigenous peoples (IPs) in the Caraga Region, Southern Philippines is estimated at 500,000. Recognizing the disadvantaged position and vulnerability of the IPs in the region, the ILO responded by launching the Caraga Indigenous Peoples Development Programme (IPDP Caraga).

  1. Enhance job opportunities for people with disabilities for everyone's benefits

    Viet Nam has lost 3 per cent of its Gross Domestic Product as the result of the involuntary exclusion of persons with disabilities from the labour market. On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (3 December), the ILO is calling for investment in more effective inclusion strategies that can yield returns to society and benefit everyone.

  2. Advancing HIV-sensitive Social Protection in Indonesia: A National Stakeholder Consultation

    Indonesia, Thailand and India have the largest number of people living with HIV in the Asia Pacific region. During 2001-2009, the number of Indonesian people living with HIV grew more than thirty fold. The number of provinces reporting HIV cases also jumped from 11 in 2004 to 33 provinces by 2009.

  3. Greater access to HIV-sensitive social protection in Indonesia

    Key officials from Indonesia, India and Thailand will gather in Jakarta on 21st November to attend a UN-sponsored meeting which aims to promote HIV-sensitive social protection in Indonesia.

    The UNDP Asia-Pacific Regional Centre (UNDP APRC), International Labour Organization (ILO), and the United Nations Indigenous Peoples Partnership (UNIPP) are jointly hosting a two-day Regional Workshop on Indigenous and Tribal Peoples, on Monday – Tuesday, 19 – 20 November, at the Borobudur Hotel, Jakarta.

  5. Joint UNIPP-PRO 169 National Workshop on Indigenous Peoples Issues in Indonesia

    Indigenous and tribal peoples constitute at least 5,000 distinct peoples with a population of more than 370 million in the world, living in 70 different countries, including Indonesia. With 1,072 different ethnic groups, including 11 ethnic groups with a population of over one million people, Indonesia is considered one of the world’s most culturally diverse nations.

  6. ILO and UN Women collaborate for the advancement of gender equality

    The ILO and UN Women have agreed to develop a common approach towards the goal of gender equality promotion and the empowerment of women.
