The South African government has embarked on an ambitious programme to develop the social and solidarity economy in the country, with technical support from the International Labour Organization. The social and solidarity economy comprises of entities that pursue social, economic, and environmental objectives in the collective interest of their members and users. Chief Technical Adviser, Kerryn Krige explains.

Funded by the government of the Netherlands, the ILO's ACCEL Africa project aims to eliminate child labour from supply chains in Africa, including in the cocoa sector in Côte d'Ivoire and the artisanal gold mining sector in Mali. The project's Chief Technical Advisor, Minoru Ogasawara, explains.
