Guiding Labour Migration and Labour Mobility in Africa
Migration today is linked, directly or indirectly, to the world of work
and the quest for decent work opportunities, either within countries or
across international borders. Labour migration is growing more diverse
and complex. Temporary labour migration is becoming more widespread.
Many countries are now countries of origin, transit and destination at the
same time. More women are joining the ranks of migrant workers and in
some sectors, such as the care sector and domestic work, represent the
majority of the migrant labour workforce. They can face discrimination,
exploitation and abuse, including violence and harassment.
